Lee County Greenways
Lee County's signature greenway is the Endor Iron Furnace Greenway, a 1.4-mile paved trail stretching from Carbonton Road to Boone Circle. The City of Sanford planned to issue $4 million in 2020 to extend the current Greenway toward downtown. However, due to the fiscal impact of the Pandemic, the City has put the Greenway extension on hold. Eventually, Sanford hopes to work with Lee County Government and community partners to extend the Endor Iron Furnace Greenway all the way to the historic Endor Iron Furnace. Visit Sanford maintains an Outdoor Recreation webpage, listing natural areas around the City of Sanford in Lee County.
