Franklin County Greenways

Franklin County recently adopted a Countywide Bike-Pedestrian Plan. Check out the plan below to learn more about Franklin County's existing facilities, envisioned bike/pedestrian infrastructure, and active communities. The signature greenway for Franklin County is the Louisburg Bike Trail, a 2.2-mile asphalt trail that runs from South Main Street to Vance-Granville Community College (Franklin Campus). The future Franklinton/Louisburg Rail Trail would connect to the Louisburg Bike Trail. Franklin County is also working on funding for a rails-to-trails project between Franklinton and Louisburg. The route would follow the former Seaboard Rail Corridor. Part of the trail already exists in Louisburg. If you're looking to go for a hike in Franklin County, look no further than V.E. & Lydia H. Owens Recreational Park at Bull Creek. The park features a 1/2 mile paved walking trail, 3k and 5k nature trails, a children's playground, a picnic shelter for rental, and fishing ponds (with one ADA fishing pier). To explore other green spaces in Franklin County, check out the County's Parks & Recreation Department resources in the links below.
