Cumberland County Greenways
Cumberland County does not currently have an adopted greenways and trails master plan. The notable trails and greenways are found within the City of Fayetteville: the Cape Fear River Trail and the Cape Fear Mountain Bike Park Trail. The Cape Fear River Trail is Cumberland County’s signature greenway. The CFRT is an out and back, 10-foot wide paved path for walkers, joggers, bicyclists, and others utilizing non-motorized transportation. It winds for more than 7 miles through a beautiful blend of trees, plants, and wildlife with spectacular views of the river. The trail is open 365 days from 8 AM to dusk. https://www.fcpr.us/parks-trails/trails/cape-fear-river-trail Cape Fear Mountain Bike Trail is a feature of the Cape Fear River Trail. Access is located 1 mile north of Clark Park traveling towards Methodist University, not far from the intersection with Eastwood Avenue. This meandering woodland trail is suitable for cyclists and hikers alike. https://www.fcpr.us/parks-trails/trails/cape-fear-mountain-bike-trail The 4,000-acre Carvers Creek State Park contains the 2-mile long James S. Rockefeller Trail and the 0.75-mile Cypress Point Loop Trail. The trail system of the Sandhills access totals just over 10 miles, which is composed of seven trails on sandy soil. https://www.ncparks.gov/carvers-creek-state-park/trails
